If you've never experienced a REAL South Dakota pheasant hunt, you are definitely
missing out on a great hunt. You may have hunted a preserve or game farm, but
make no mistake, our pheasant hunts are nothing like those hunts. Our birds know
they have wings and they know how to use them. There is nothing like flushing a
couple hundred of these WILD ringnecks at one time. Just the sight of this is worth

A typical day involves getting to the field by 10 or 11 am, hunting for an hour or two,
then heading to the ranch for a hot, home-cooked lunch. After lunch, we head back
to the fields for some more action. Some groups finish before lunch, but we do not
set the pace. We will hunt as fast or slow as you wish. After the hunt, you can
relax in one of our 4 pheasant hunting lodges, or you can explore all that the
Gregory and Dallas area has to offer...especially Dallas !!!

Double K is located in Gregory, SD. Gregory is in south-central SD, 20 miles north of
the Nebraska border. Our pheasant hunting takes place 5 miles northwest of Dallas.
This area is textbook pheasant habitat...rolling hills of crops and CRP, with plenty of
low spots where the cover gets heavy, even during drought.

Season Dates & Rates
Double K is not a preserve, so we can only hunt during the regular pheasant season which starts the 3rd Saturday in
October. (Oct. 18th for 2008) The season ends the 1st Sunday after New Year's. After December 1st is considered late
season pheasant hunting. Late season hunting is quickly becoming a favorite. We usually have snow by then, a lot of cover
is knocked down, the birds are bunched up, and rates for pheasant hunts are lower.

We hunt 15 miles east of Winner, 40 miles south of Chamberlain, and just 1.5 hours
southwest of Mitchell. Cabela's is located in Mitchell, and you can get everything you
need for a South Dakota pheasant hunt while there.

Basically, the Gregory and Dallas area has evolved into a pheasant hunter's
paradise. Pheasant hunting is very important to the local economy, and the locals

lodges are very clean & comfortable and will meet or exceed your expectations. All
of our pheasant hunting lodges are strategically located to give your group plenty of
after-hunt options. Safety is a priority. We have 2 lodges in Dallas within 3 blocks
of Frank Day's Bar, so you will not have to worry about anyone drinking and driving.
